Equivalence

Although this was not mentioned on the college boards site as a logical operator you’ll need to know I think you should. The main reason is that they actually included a equivalence question in the official study guide I bought. Don’t worry it’s a rather easy operator.

Equivalence can is often written as three-lined equal sign but for our purpose we’ll use the equal(=) sign. Equal is the key word here as this is exactly what we are looking for. If the two propositions are the same, whether they are both false or both true, then the statement is true. So the truth table would be as follows:

ABA = B
TT T
TFF
FTF
FFT

This one is easy to remember as you just have to think of it as an = sign.
